The sunlight

Every year around this time, it’s made abundantly clear to me that I live in part of the world that has much shorter daylight than other parts of the world. While, by now, we have started to gain daylight from the Winter Solstice; it’s still tough to wrap my head around the lack of sunlight we have. Someone posted this picture recently and I had to share it. This explains the lack of sunlight and also make me grateful I don’t live further north! Enjoy!

I made it to episode 8!

When I started idea, this was my first goal. Come hell or high water, make it to episode 8. I’m so proud to say that I have made it here. I am using www.buzzsprout.com as my hosting site and they did an incredible 7 part Youtube video tutorial about how to start a podcast. In the first episode of that tutorial, it was shared that most podcasts don’t make it past episode #7. Well, here we are baby! I’m so excited. If you have been following and liking it, thank you. This has been so fun. I have learned so much. Yeah, we eventually get to the weather in the episodes, but the human side of this has been such a joy for me as well. Getting to meet some new people. Getting to know some people I have already known well even better. I can’t tell you enough how grateful I am for folks that have been faithfully listening and have been started following.

Obsessed the weather, sort of…

This podcasting adventure I have been on has been so much fun. It’s been incredible to talk with all of my amazing guests so far and I’m getting close to the magic number of 8 episodes! (most episodes when the start, don’t make it past the 7th episode, so let’s go!) I’ve titled this podcast Obsessed With the Weather and there is no doubt, I am obsessed with the weather. However, as you listen, you may be finding yourself asking, at times, where is the weather in all this? Well, that’s what it’s developed into. It’s been lots of amazing stories about people’s career paths, the joys of their journey and other cool things with weather woven in. And, I’m 100% fine with that. I have no idea what other paths will continue to come from this, but it has been so much fun. I hope you are enjoying it!

My Podcasting Adventure

When I started this podcasting adventure and thought a couple months ago, I had no idea where it was going to go. It sounded interesting and I had begun listening to podcasts with the last couple years, so I thought that I would just go for it and see what happens. I did what I do with a lot of things I have no idea about, I googled it. I found this incredible website calle www.buzzsprout.com that became a gamechanger for me. It was exactly what I needed. A bunch of 10 minuteish long videos about how to start a podcast. No BS. Just the information and the best practices to use and the worst practices to avoid.

I bought all the gear, set up my studio, came up with a name, got the support and/backing of my wife and let it fly. That is how we got to today. I have done a “soft launch” to my friends and family. I am preparing to make the “official” launch on July 29. I put it up on Spotify and a few other sites today, just to get it out there. Honestly, seeing your podcast go from non-existant to listed on Spotify almost immediately, was pretty sweet.

If you have a topic that you are passionate about and a little bit of time to invest, you can do this too. EVERY single obstacle you can think of would stop you from doing. I don’t have the time, it’s too expensive, what will I talk about? Forget all of it. Just get it together and do it. It’s a blast and I can’t wait to see what the future will bring!
